Friday Photo #722 – Cold Sun

Photo: Cold autumn sun shining behind stockfish drying racks, Sørvågen, Moskenesøy, Lofoten Islands, Norway. October 10, 2026. 13:47
Despite the blue sky and sunshine, the strong east wind was keeping this day on the chilly side.
As I was picking up a couple clients for a private day of shooting from their rorbu in Sørvågen, I thought it would be a good idea to see if anything could come of the nearby hjeller – stockfish drying racks which were just around the corner. Usually blue sky and bright sun is not the best here on Lofoten, but the shapes and lines of the old stockfish racks can often produce some abstract-ish images in the otherwise harsh daylight.
The golden grasses below the racks initially caught my eye. But it wasn’t consistent enough to produce much of an image. There was also a power line running overhead which eliminated some possible compositions. I finally settled on a simple image of the fish racks with a little bit of the warm yellow grass to compliment the blue October sky. Add in a little bit of a sun star and its a decent image for 10 minutes of wandering around in the middle of the day.
